The Short Version
We collect only the information reasonably needed to sell and deliver the product, manage licenses, respond to messages and inquiries, maintain customer records, send product-related or marketing communications, and operate and protect BYOStack. We do not run user accounts. We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers or use it for targeted advertising. Our website analytics are based on server-side request logs and do not use client-side tracking cookies or advertising trackers. Payment details are collected directly by Gumroad, our checkout and payment platform, and we do not receive or store your card number or bank details.
Information We Collect
In this policy, “personal information” means information that identifies, relates to or can reasonably be associated with an individual.
When you purchase. Purchases are processed by an independent third party Gumroad, which acts as the merchant of record for the transaction. Gumroad collects payment information directly and processes checkout, payment, receipts, taxes, refunds, fraud prevention, and related transaction functions under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive or store your card or bank details. From Gumroad, we may receive limited purchase information, such as your name, email address, country, zip code, product purchased, purchase date, order or transaction identifier, license key, and related purchase or support status, so that we can fulfill orders, maintain license records, provide support, and keep required business records.
When you use the byostack.ai/scale form. If you submit the consulting inquiry form, we receive what you enter: your name, your email address, your phone number if you choose to provide it, your role, your company name, company website if you choose to provide it, company size, your description of what you are trying to solve, and how you found BYOStack. If you include additional information in a free-text field, we will process it as part of your inquiry. Please do not submit sensitive personal information through the form unless we specifically request it.
When you use the byostack.ai/feature-request form. If you submit the feature request form, we receive what you enter: platform selection, your email address, and what would you build first. If you include additional information in a free-text field, we will process it as part of your inquiry. When you email us. When you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We may keep those communications in our email system and, where relevant, in our customer relationship management system so that we can respond, provide support, manage customer records, and follow up on inquiries.
When you visit the website. Byostack.ai is a static website hosted on Netlify. We use Netlify Analytics to understand site traffic. Netlify Analytics is based on server-side request logs, such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. It does not use cookies or client-side tracking scripts for our site analytics, and we do not use it to track you across other websites. Based on our current configuration, byostack.ai does not set cookies or use client-side advertising or tracking technologies. This does not, however, apply to third-party websites or services (e.g., Gumroad) that you may access from links on our site. Please review the terms and privacy policies of any third-party websites or services that may be linked from our site before proceeding. If our analytics or cookie practices materially changes, we will update this policy.
What we do not collect. We do not run user accounts, so there are no usernames or passwords. We do not collect payment card numbers. We do not buy data about you from third parties.
We do not ask you to provide sensitive personal information, and you should not include it in forms or messages unless we specifically request it.
How We Use Your Information
We may use the information above to:
- Deliver the product and your license key;
- Send service-related emails, such as receipts, license information, support messages, product updates, and onboarding communications;
- Send marketing or promotional emails where permitted by law, with an option to unsubscribe from future marketing emails;
- Respond when you contact us;
- Evaluate and respond to consulting inquiries submitted through byostack.ai/scale;
- Evaluate traffic and viewership to our website and its videos;
- Keep records we are required to keep for tax, accounting, and legal purposes; or
- Protect our rights, including enforcement of the product license.
We do not use your information for targeted advertising.
Service Providers That May Process Your Information
We are a small operation, and we use established third-party platforms to run it.
We use the following third-party services to operate BYOStack. Some act as our service providers, and some, such as Gumroad when it acts as merchant of record, may also process information under their own terms and privacy policies. These services include, but are not limited to:
- Gumroad — sales, payment processing, receipts, license keys, and aggregate statistics about product page views
- Google Workspace — our email and cloud storage
- Pipedrive — our customer relationship management system (CRM), where purchase records, contact information, and consulting inquiries are organized
- Loom — hosting for the BYOStack “Watch This First” video and statistics about who views it.
- This information is shared with BYOStack in anonymized, aggregate form (e.g., total views), unless you have logged into your own Loom account pursuant to the terms and conditions of your Loom account with Atlassian, and thus have opted in to be included in a viewer list that is also sent to BYOStack. - Netlify — website hosting, storage of form submissions, and aggregate website statistics
- Buttondown — subscriber email addresses, subscription management, and delivery of the email newsletter service if you have opted in to receive it.
- Other service providers who are contractually required for security and confidentiality safeguards, such as attorneys, accountants, and advisors.
We disclose personal information to these providers only as reasonably necessary for them to provide services to us or to you, including checkout, payment processing, hosting, email, domain management, customer relationship management, support, analytics, security, tax, accounting, legal compliance, and business operations. We may also disclose information if required by law, in response to valid legal process, to protect our rights or the rights of others, or in connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
Our website may link to third-party websites or services, including Gumroad. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services, and their handling of your information is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
How Long We Keep It
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to fulfill purchases, maintain license records, provide support, manage customer relationships, comply with tax, accounting, and legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and protect our rights. Purchase and license records may be retained for as long as needed to document the purchase, maintain the license relationship, and comply with legal and accounting requirements. Correspondence and inquiry records are retained for as long as reasonably relevant to the relationship, inquiry, or our business records.
If you ask us to delete your information, we will review and honor the request where we can, but we may retain information where necessary for legal, tax, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, dispute resolution, license, backup, or other legitimate business purposes.
Your Choices and Rights
Certain state jurisdictions give residents consumer rights over their personal information. Currently, BYOStack is not subject to any of those laws. Nonetheless, nothing in this policy is intended to limit rights you may have under applicable law, and we will make commercially reasonable efforts to accommodate requests.
Specifically, you may contact us at support@byostack.ai to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we maintain about you. For your protection, we may ask you to verify your identity before we make commercially reasonable efforts to respond to your requests. We may decline or limit a request where permitted by law or where we need to retain information for license records, tax, accounting, legal, security, dispute resolution or other legitimate business purposes.
If you receive marketing or promotional emails from us, you can unsubscribe by using the unsubscribe link or any other opt out instructions included in the email. We may still send transactional and other non-marketing emails, such as purchase information, license information, support responses, security notices, and legal or administrative messages.
Purchase receipts, checkout communications, and license delivery communications sent by Gumroad are governed by Gumroad’s own terms and privacy policy.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect the personal information we maintain. These include limiting access to personal information to people and systems that need it to operate BYOStack, using established third-party platforms for core services, and keeping our data footprint limited. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will evaluate and respond to it as required by applicable law.
Children
BYOStack is intended for business and professional users and is not directed to users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors under 18. If you believe a minor under 18 has provided us personal information, contact us at support@byostack.ai and we will take appropriate steps to delete the information to the extent required by law.
Where Your Information Is Processed
BYOStack operates from the United States. If you purchase from us, visit the Website, or contact us from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States and other locations where we or our service providers operate.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on byostack.ai, with its effective date. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date and, where appropriate, by providing additional notice.
